Letter from the Principal
As the founding Principal of the Nordic International School in Norrköping I am truly honoured and excited to present myself to you.
I join the Nordic International School after successfully completing two positions as Principal at Internationella Engelska Skolan – founding Principal at IES Skärholmen and IES Tyresö. Prior to moving to Stockholm in February 2013, I spent 17 years as a Senior Vice Principal, Deputy Headteacher, Assistant Headteacher, Head of Science and Science Teacher in various cities across the British Isles. I am also proud to be part of the ‘Future Leaders’ movement in Britain (www.ambitionschoolleadership.org.uk).
The Nordic International School will be an international school of the highest educational quality for years 4 – 9 and will follow the Swedish curriculum. With certain subjects taught in English led by staff with English as their native language. Teaching will be based on the international educational platform (the International Middle Years Curriculum, IMYC). The school will also be part of the Nordic International network of schools.
We will have a school where English will be the spoken language followed by Swedish. As a school, we will have a clear code of conduct, dress code and high academic standards. These are essentials in our aspiration to have an international and academic atmosphere in our school. It is also our ambition to provide both staff and students with a safe and orderly school environment where we all can thrive and achieve great results together.
I am currently working very hard to build a truly, strong international team of staff from the English-speaking world as well as excellent Swedish teachers.
I look forward to meeting you all very soon.
Mr Steven Battye, BSc (Hons), PGCE, PgDip, NPQH
