Autumn 2020
2020-12-15 [Swedish]
Smittspridning skall undvikas. Skolverket har uppdaterat sina råd.

– The change aims to create peace of mind, and to enable us to focus on the pedagogical work in school. - For the activities continued in upper secondary schools, primary schools and kindergartens, the general advice continues:
– Congestion should be avoided
– Good opportunities for hand washing and hand sanitizing must be provided
– The premises should be cleaned preferably once a day.

Our schools should stay open as long as possible, according to current decisions and guidelines from government and authorities. Based on this, Nordic International School will continue the ongoing work on measures at each individual school to reduce congestion on the school’s premises. In suspected or confirmed cases of Covid-19 at the school, the principal, together with the company management, analyzes the situation at the school. Contact is always made with infectious disease control physicians for advice before deciding on measures.

At present, the Swedish authorities recommend that all schools should be kept open to students. However, we are continuously preparing for different scenarios, including a situation where the recommendation is to close schools and switch to online education.
In order to guarantee a safe and secure school environment for students and staff, we work on the basis of a strict policy regarding symptoms of illness. Students and staff with any symptom of illness should stay at home. If symptoms occur during the school day, the student will be sent home, after contact and agreement with a guardian. The student or employee is welcome back to school no earlier than 48 hours after symptom relief.
Based on the school’s local conditions, the principal and staff review how to adapt the school premises and the schedule to make it easier for students and teachers to keep a physical distance.
We encourage all students to use other means of transport than public transport to get to school, such as cycling or walking if possible. We also encourage our students to be outside during breaks.
The school premises are cleaned at least once every day, and everyone is reminded of the importance of cleaning hands with regular soap and hand disinfectant.
No external visitors have access to the premises except in emergency situations and for necessary maintenance / cleaning. Guardians who are to pick up children must meet up outdoors.
Physical education takes place as far as possible outdoors, current information is given by the respective sports teacher.
Updated information will be provided via Schoolsoft, in the event of changed recommendations.
Spring 2020

On March 23, the National Agency for Education (Skolverket) has announced that all remaining national tests during the spring of 2020, are canceled.
2020-03-18
Nordic International School closely follows the development of the current situation regarding the coronavirus and the recommendations of the Swedish Government and Folkhälsomyndigheten.
Currently, the recommendation from the authorities is to keep pre-schools and schools (förskola och grundskola) open for students that are not showing any signs of illness. However we are preparing ourselves for a number of different scenarios for the future development, including a possible recommendation to close the school.
In order to maintain a safe school environment for all students and our staff, we apply a strict policy regarding signs of illness. Students and staff with symptoms of illness are expected to stay home. If symptoms appear during the school day, the student will be sent home after contact with the guardian. After recovering the student can come back to school after being symptom free for at least 48 hours.
If you are a guardian, you will be informed via Schoolsoft if there is any change to the current situation or recommendation.
